Treatment
Appendicitis is normally treated through surgery known as appendectomy. The doctor will recommend some antibiotics before the surgery to avoid any infection.
Incisions of about 2- 4 inches is made in appendectomy.Appendectomy is advantageous in cases where  the appendix has ruptured ,spreading the infection and causing abscess.Appendectomy allows the surgeon to clean the abdominal cavity better.Laparoscopic surgery can also be used to treat appendicitis. Laparoscopic surgery is less painful and ensures a quicker recovery. It is beneficial for elderly patients and obese patients.
